We fueled up this morning at Harborside. We met the ship store dog, Charlie, and found a handy Quinby's Guide for the river system. We headed down river at 09:15. We entered Dresden Island Lock at mile marker 271.5 at 09:35. This lock had a 22 foot drop. We exited the lock at 09:55.
We arrived at our 2nd lock today at 11:50 but had to wait for our turn for about 40 minutes. We exited the Marseilles Lock in Marseilles, IL at 12:55. It had a 24ft drop. The next lock was Starved Rock Lock in Ottawa, IL (MM 231). It had about an 18ft drop. We arrived there at 13:55 and exited at 14:25.
We arrived at our overnight Marina at 17:45 after traveling 105 miles today. We stayed at Illinois Valley Yacht Club. Nice place! Had great facilities and we met some awesome folks.
We went inside to check in and inquired about transportation to the nearest grocery. The bar tender spoke up and offered his personal car for our use to make the 10 mile trip. Wow, that was so nice of him! Another lady sitting nearby overheard the conversation and questioned his judgement on loaning us his car. He said, "Think about it! I will have their boat!" We made the trip to WalMart safely and returned his keys. We grilled steaks and watched football.
