Day 3 - Sunday, October 18, 2015

We fired up the engines at 08:15 and fueled up.  We reached the Peoria Lock at MM 162.5 in Creve Coeur, IL about 10:00.  This lock only dropped 11ft.  The lock master requested that we "float" in the lock so no lines needed this time.

We arrived at the La Grange Lock in Versailles, IL at MM 80.2 around 14:00.  This lock had only a 10ft drop so it wouldn't take long once we were cleared to go.  There was a barge that had arrived ahead of us but the Tug radioed the lock master and told him it was fine for us to go first. Wow, that saved us about a 2 hour wait!  After only 15 minutes in the lock, we were on our way down river.

Tonight, we were planning to stay at Grafton Harbor in Grafton, IL.  This was the end of the Illiois River at MM 0.  We arrived about 17:45.  We travelled 168 miles today.  Tomorrow, we will travel the Ohio River.

We went up to the ship's store to check in and look around.  While shopping, we encountered two ladies that appeared to have already been to happy hour.  They argued back and forth over who was going to pay for the goods they were buying.  Finally, they settled it and moved along.  The store clerk introduced us to some sample crackers and sold us the seasoning to make them at home.  Can't wait to try them out!  We also found some souvenirs here and some re-usable snack plates on sale.  We got the low-down on the courtesy car and made plans to use it in the morning to make a Walmart run and to FedEx some papers.

Tonight, we ate upstairs at the grill.  The food was pretty good. I tried the crab cakes.

This was a ferry area where cars on this side wanted to get to the other side (below) so they caught the ferry across.
